This PETA propaganda disguised as a "vegan wieght loss" book became a best seller in the UK back in May 2007, a year and a half AFTER it was released (which is weird in the wonderful world of books).. Why the sudden boom? Duh, a photo of super sexy Victoria Beckham holding a copy...
The cover literally shouts, "stop eating crap and start looking fabulous," and thus the tone of the book is set. 224 pages devoted to killing the self-esteem of anyone who dares stray from the strict no-animal/animal (by)product rules.
I have NOTHING against veganism, but this book is sad:
"Thanks to "Skinny Bitch," women who hate their bodies no longer need rely on their own self-loathing to stoke the flames of what seems like motivation but is actually self-flagellation [. . .] relentless bullying peppered throughout the authors' advice: "you need to exercise, you lazy shit," "coffee is for pussies" and "don't be a fat pig anymore" (Klausner, Salon.com).
I've heard that those are types of phrases that are already constantly running through the minds of people suffering from eating disorders. That's not cool...
Why do these authors resort to this type of degradation?? There are many other positive ways to loose weight and eat healthy, and at the same time fight for the rights of animals.
OH! This book is geared towards young women, but guys don't fret! Check out skinny bitches little brother, "Skinny Bastard"
